Navigate 3 - LMS Reporting

Answer in your blog: What are the options for grade reporting? Are there various levels? Which levels remain most valuable for the online instructor in regard to student performance?

The are several options for grade reporting and various levels they are as follows:  Report card, feedback, participating requirements, and assessments.

Feedback is very necessary to keep the student on track and alert stakeholders of the progress of the student.   Providing proper feedback can increase the student progress throughout the course.  Feedback should extend to administration, and parents to ensure all are informed.

Participation requirements are necessary to ensure that the student is engaged in learning.  Students must actively participate in order to effectively learn.  When students share others will be able to learn thus deepening the knowledge of all learners.

Assessments are necessary to finalize learning.  Once information has been delivered and shared it is now time for students to prove that learning has occurred.   Assessment are necessary to determine the level of understanding of each student. Depending on the results of the assessments will determine if the student should progress to the next lesson or be retaught a previous assignment.

Reporting grades is the final outcome of all learning that has occurred.  This is necessary to determine if the student has passed or failed the course.  The next steps will be assigned based on the results of the grades received.

The most valuable form of grade reporting is feedback.  Effectively and timely feedback is detrimental to the success of the learner.  Feedback is necessary for all levels of grade reporting.  It serves as the final outcome or cause and effect.
