"Barriers That Might Effect Learners Access to Digital Learning"
A discussion about the types of barriers that might impede students’ opportunities to access digital learning and what might we do to eliminate such barriers will be provided below?
The barriers that might impede students opportunities to access digital learning are as follows: low bandwidth, disabilities, income disparity.
If students have access to internet but the bandwidth is low this will cause a major problem for students. Student will not be able to access various online platforms or videos that may be needed to successfully complete a course. This may cause a student to loose motivation due to the difficulty of accessing the course thus leading to course failure.
Students that have lower income will not have the opportunity to access the internet in their home, therefore, completing assignments may will be impossible. Students will have to make arrangements to complete assignments at their local library or wifi enabled areas. This may create an issue because students may not have transportation to such areas.
Last students with disabilities may need additional time completing the coursework and additional assistance with navigating through the coursework. Parents or teachers may have to offer additional help so the student can successfully complete the course.
To eliminate such barriers wifi bandwidth should be provided to all citizens for a low cost or free. Wifi bandwidth should be included with electrical service. Schools should provide portable wifi devices for students with lower income. Although w is available in local stores and shops it should be provided free for students scholars.
